Crocheted Purple Passion
This is an afghan I just finished crocheting done in Lionbrand's Chenille Thick & Quick, Dark Purple, Amethyst Print and Antique White. The finished dimensions are 48" x 52". This is one I will sell for $150.00. It is just a shame not to be able see these in person. One cannot tell how rich the colors look or feel the softness of the item just by the pictures.

Thank you so much. Actually it only took me about a week to make it as crocheting is the main thing I do of an evening when I get off work. It was also a pattern that worked up quite quickly.
You could always paint a room lavender or white? :-)

If it only took you a week, why are you charging so much?

Dear Anonymous,
Although it only took me a week to make this afghan, I did not state how many hours I worked on this afghan during that week, which were numerous.
Also, if you check at any store that sells Lionbrand Chenille Thick & Quick Yarn, please take a look at the price per skein. It is an expensive yarn and it took a good bit of it to make this product.
If the truth be known, I probably did not ask enough for it.

Anonymous - have you checked out what you are asking? At Herrschner's there is a kit for $50.00 and I know from experience that the kit doesnot contain as good a quality of yarn as when you buy the yarn in bulk. If she worked on it a week that is $14.00 per day considering she paid $50.00 for the yarn but I'll bet by the time she bought the yarn and paid shipping and handling it is even less than that.
Would you work for $14.00 per day. I'll hire you.

Tchat,
Currently my price is mainly based on the cost of the materials involved.
I have also since discussed this with several women in town, who attend a lot of craft shows. They haven't see a single afghan the size of mine priced for under $200 and that was using a regular worsted weight yarn and not the specialty chenille yarn that I have been using on my projects.
Therefore, my price is not giving me much in the the way of skill, creativity or labor involved since these are all hand made. I am just at this time, looking to sell some to recoop my yarn costs so that I can buy more yarn to continue to do something I enjoy.

Update. I traded this afghan off for 4 cartons of Marlboros. It was given as a birthday gift to a little girl who was thrilled with it since the colors in it were her school colors.
